BRANCH WELFARE OFFICER’S REPORT 2006
I have been the Branch Welfare Officer for the past two years in which I have been helping our members in very difficult circumstances. I have made applications to Unison Welfare, in order to secure grants for a number of reason i.e. financial help to deal with emergencies, holidays and get well breaks for our members who had been ill for a while. We have also supported some members from our local welfare fund in order to minimise their financial difficulties I attended a National Welfare seminar last year, where I had the chance to meet Welfare Officers from other regions, to share some best practices and updated my knowledge about National Welfare. A numbers of changes have taken place over the last year. New financial assistance and get well break forms have been introduced with updated criteria for members to apply for assistance when required. In my role as a local representative of Unison Welfare, I urge members who experience any financial difficulty to get in touch with me or the Rotherham Unison Branch in order to seek some help.
