Pay Consultation: Offer rejected
Tuesday, 20 May 2008Unison members have voted to reject the offer of 2.45% in the recent consultative ballot.
Some 54.9 percent voted to reject the local government employers’ 2.45 percent “pay rise” in a consultative ballot.
The ballot paper made it clear that a vote against the pay offer was a vote in favour of strike action.
Following the ballot Unison’s NJC negotiating committee voted 15 to 12 to reject the offer and ballot for strike action, a move endorsed by the industrial action committee.
The official ballot is set to start on 27 May and end on 13 June, with the first possible day of strike action being 8 July.
Members are urged to vote 'Yes' and urge their colleagues to do likewise.
