Job Evaluation Appeals

From £

Appeals process against errors in the grading of posts beginning this week.

The council has begun writing to members who have rejected their pay banding in the first and second stage of Job Evaluation, beginning the first stage of the appeals process.

Under the appeals process the first stage is to examine whether or not a obvious error has been made with the banding of your post.  You should be offered a meeting with your line manager, a representative of HR.  We advise that you contact your steward or the branch office for representation.

Members are advised to prepare evidence prior to the meeting as to why they believe their job has been wrongly down graded.

The meeting should be short as if agreement can be reached to everyones satisfaction, then the banding will be ammended and backdated to 1 April 2008.  In the event that no agreement can be reached the appeal will move to a formal detailed hearing at Stage 2, probably in the Autumn.
