Defend our Meals on Wheels and Laundry Services
Unison members from the laundry and meals on wheels service, along with stewards and officers, lobbied the council on Tuesday, challenging the decison to close and privatise these services without any consultation or assessment of the impact on jobs and services.
An angry lobby recieved widespread public support both for our petition and from passing motorists who honked their horns in support. Along with other trade union members there were heated exchanges with councillors who seemed bewildered by decisions of the council's senior managers. Carol Maleham was interviewed by BBC Radio Sheffield and was the lobby was filmed for later news bulletins.
