Pay negotiations with the national employers have stalled. Originally the employers made a derisory offer of 0.5% which the trade union side rejected. The employers have withdrawn the offer and talks have prduced no new offer. Currently the employers are appointing a new chair but they appear to be in no hurry to make an improved offer.
While the bankers get bailed out and and bonuses, members get stuck with a real terms pay cut. With the budget situation in the council set to get much worse this may be the best chance in some time to win a decent award.
