Probation Staff
Monday, 02 April 2007Join UNISON's campaign to oppose the government's Offender Management Bill currently in Parliament.
If the Bill is passed by MPs in its current form, it will mean the destruction of the Probation Service as we know it. Unless we can stop it, the Bill will:
- abolish the National Probation Service
- abolish all 43 Probation Boards including your own employer
- centralise all control of Probation to the Home Secretary
- replace Probation Boards with unaccountable Trusts run by business people
- force you to transfer to one of the new Trusts
- jeopardise your national terms and conditions of employment
- privatise many sensitive Probation Services
- force many Probation Staff to transfer to new private sector providers of probation services
