The NHS is changing faster than at any time in its history. Record investment and service modernisation have delivered real improvements in the services offered to patients - services which remain free at the point of use.
All this has been put at risk by the government's decision to change the way services are delivered, through the introduction of a competitive healthcare market and the increasing involvement of the private sector. This has led to the instability and financial debt faced by many hospital and primary care trusts.
'NHS Together' - Lobby Parliament on 1st November
(22/09/06) NHS Together is an alliance of all the health trade unions in the NHS who have joined forces in a campaign to defend the NHS. A Lobby of Parliament is planned for Wednesday, 1st November.
