BRANCH CONVENOR’S REPORT 2006

2006 has been a very busy year with sickness meetings, grievances, disciplinaries and both formal and informal meetings.  I have started to negotiate agreements for members and endeavoured to gain the best all round solution for them.  I have achieved success in this area by compromise agreements, compensation payments, etc. Since I became a full time officer in 2004, I have noticed the branch developing into a more proactive team rather than a reactive one.  This, I feel, is something we should all be proud of and be encouraged by. We are becoming more motivated around campaigning and that is thanks to each and every one of us – some people inspire, invoke spirit and give direction, and others have the experience and knowledge to channel.  I feel that this branch is moving in a new direction and with the experience and knowledge that we have in Carole and Dave, together with the regional support from Robin, we are a vibrant and successful branch. I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people, of course there are far too may to name, but those who have really gone that extra mile for me during this past year are Dave and Robin, whose knowledge and experience have been invaluable.  Thank you both for your time, patience and encouragement, it has meant so much to me personally and has aided my development.  Carole, who is always at the end of the phone should I need her. I would also like to thank the admin team, without whom I for one, would struggle, so thank you for all your hard work, help and patience.  I have found your experience and professionalism invaluable, so CHEERS girls!  Without you all it would have been so much more difficult.  Finally, I would like to thank Mick Stowe, Mick Duggan, Daron Hercock and Steve Dodds, whose excellent team work has helped me out of many awkward situations.  They have all stepped in to cover at a moments notice and I have really appreciated this. Best wishes to you all. Val BroomheadBranch Convenor
