BRANCH CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT 2006
During this year I have represented the Union at the Joint Consultative meetings and at the Adult Services/Trade Union Consultation meetings. There have been many changes in Social Services. Adult Social Services is now a separate entity, although plans are for this service to be amalgamated with Neighbourhoods. The Warden Service has been transferred to Neighbourhoods with the Trade Unions not being involved as much as we would have liked. Two homes for older people have been closed with staff being successfully redeployed. I have been involved in a review of roles of Social Workers and Social Service Officers. A number of meetings were held with staff and all the suggestions have been incorporated into the proposed job descriptions. I have represented UNISON members at sickness monitoring interviews and at grievance procedures. As this is my last year as Chairperson, I will take this opportunity to thank all those members who have supported me and wish the Union all best wishes for the future. Linda HeywoodBranch Chair
