Pay Action
Thursday, 30 October 2008Employers agree to pay 2.45% "On Account" pending outcome of arbitration.
The employers have agreed to UNISON's request to refer to the 2008/09 pay dispute to ACAS for binding arbitration. However, UNISON has argued that our members deserve a pay rise now and that in light of the current financial crisis they should not have to await the outcome of arbitration.
The employers have agreed to our request to pay 2.45% "on account" so that members will have the increase and back pay in time for Christmas. Any additional increase resulting from arbitration will be paid when that process is concluded.
Next Year's claim
In the summer UNISON's National Delegate Conference decided that we should submit the 2009 pay claim as soon as possible. The NJC Joint Trade Union Side has decided to submit the claim in early November and we now need to consult with members to establish what should be the basis of the claim. We need your views on the following: -
1) Do we want a claim for a 'specified pay increase'?
or
'a substantial increase of no less than the March 2009 RIP inflation level'?
2) Should the claim include bottom loading?
3) Should we separate a claim for improved conditions from the pay claim?
