Home Care Update
Thursday, 30 October 2008UNISON have lodged an Employment Tribunal claim in respect of non consultation on behalf of Rotherham home carers.
A decision was taken in December that 65% of home care work would go to the private sector, leaving only 35% of work to be done by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council home carers.
This will have a massive impact on our members whose hours are being cut by up to 50%, resulting in a potential loss of earnings of 50%.
The leaders of the Council are adamant that they will not change their mind.
We have asked to make representation to the Labour Group but this has also been declined. The cuts will have an enormous impact on the spending power of our members and an even bigger impact on the city of Rotherham.
